Do not advertise/solicate or promote your business or anyone else's business in your signature line or through posts. Certain web sites will not be linked on this site, as those sites will be removed and you will be pm'd (or not). If you are an employee of any company that sells marine products or sell competing products - YOU must visit www.PontoonStuff.com and register as a vendor through the main web site. The admins will be notified if you are permitted to engage in any business promotions. There will be a vendor forum eventually (soon) where vendors authorized by the owners of www.PontoonStuff.com can post and reply to members questions - it will be the ONLY forum available to approved vendors. All other forums are off limits to business promotions.

If you do not follow the guidelines, your links will be removed and you'll be notified by PM to read the rules (again subject to what we feel is in the best interest of this site). 2nd violation will result in the account being disabled although we reserve the right to deviate if we feel its necessary.

There will also be NO discussion/utterance whatsoever of anything political in nature - Your post will be deleted and you could incur other action.

Nothing regarding religion - however holiday greetings is acceptable, as they will be removed in due course after said holidays.

Do not hijack another post - its bad manners and you're detracting from the original posters thread who's looking for answers.

Do not post content from other web sites as the vast majority of them have Content Rights (like we do), you can however post links to those site if you want them to read stories. If you post content copied from another site, it will be deleted.

NO BUMPING of posts - No posting just to see pics, if you do it, delete it when you're done viewing the pics. I don't want to clean up after you

If you feel that a post or reply is not in keeping with the guidelines in this section or not of the family atmosphere we want portrayed, then please use the Report Post icon to alert the admins and moderators who will review your concerns or the content of the post you're reporting. We appreciate your cooperation,  thank you.

Do NOT disrespect another member of this forum, it could be the last time you'll do that. Do not 'diss' another persons boat, they all look beautiful. Some just need more work than others , that's why they are here.

Do not say anything that's considered libel about any business, it WILL be deleted as PontoonStuff will not be held liable for your actions.

NO FOUL LANGUAGE Period! To us, anything not suitable to say in front of kids is foul. And you might say it in front of your kids, but we're not going to let you say it in front of someone else's kids. Kids read these posts too.

Just a clarification folks, when we say no foul gutter language, that also includes abbreviations and/or references to it as well - We want the cleanest family orientated family forums around.

Here's a primer on forum etiquette.

Occasionally it is good for us to review some 'Forum Etiquette' basics for the new members joining us and as a reminder for our seasoned veterans. Without further adieu, here are some things to keep in mind:

1. Message boards are a non-verbal, written mode of communication. It is therefore incredibly important that you use correct spelling and proper grammar when composing your posts. Do not type in all CAPS, its considered shouting and in bad taste. It is also important that you plan out what you intend to say before you post it.

Until it is possible for the reader to unscrew your head and read your thoughts, these two things go a long way toward ensuring that what you meant to say and what you actually said are close approximates of one another.

2. We must be respectful of each other and not trample on one another's threads of discussion with off topic, or worse yet, disparaging remarks. The person who initiates a thread is considered to be the Original Poster or the 'OP' and it is they who define what the subject of the thread will be. All others who post in their thread from that point forward should keep their comments relative to the original spirit of the the thread.

Posting disparaging remarks in a thread for the sake of derailing conversation is exceptionally rude behavior and will not be tolerated. If you do this, the response from the PontoonStuff moderators can include your being removed from the PontoonStuff community entirely.

3. Often many of the questions people ask in threads have already been answered previously in a thread or in another thread all together. For that reason you are encouraged to:

  • READ threads before replying to them.
  • SEARCH the forum before starting a new thread, especially if you are asking a question.

4. Finally, realize that things like sarcasm and dry humor don't always translate well into written text. Not only should you try to use smilies to indicate the intended tone of certain comments (the wink smilie is a good example) but you should also try to give the author the benefit of the doubt when you read something that could be taken any number of ways.

It could be that their sense of humor just didn't translate well across the wire and left you with the initial impression that they were being a jerk when they were in reality just trying to bring some levity to a conversation.

Thanks.

Update regarding linking/advertising products. As of today we will allow you to talk about products by name, link directly to those products (not the general site), refer to competing web sites like Overtons, BassPro etc like we use to do.

HOWEVER, that doesn't mean you can promote a product blantantly. Which means if its obvious to us you're promoting a product, a web site, your friend, your own web site business etc, then we'll do what we've always done. That would be deleting your post up to an including removing your account. We won't let you abuse this forum and take money away from PontoonStuff owners for the purpose of advertising for someone else or yourself off of their expense of providing this forum for us to use.

Thanks.
