I just click on the 'view last post' arrow at the far right of the topic. Seems to work. Am I missing something?

Oops, I missed that, I always just view the active topics since my last visit. Thanks Rick for pointing that out (that arrow for me was very hard to see). Bob, at the far right of any active topic (or not) it shows who posted last, with a little arrow, hover over it says 'View Last Post'.

We have a lot of members here with a lot of varied technical skills. Has any consideration been given for another thread? Such as technical questions non boating issues. I'm sure I could learn or pick up a lot of useful information on a thread like that. Sure I could google it up but I would haft to sift through a lot of pages to maybe find what I'm looking for. Where one of our forum members could provide a good working solution to my issue.

Gregg,

Couldn't that happen in the 'Off Topic Chat Forum'? Just a thought.

No, there are forums for that type of thing - lots of them, but to answer what Slow Joe suggested, yes that's what the off topic section is for. As for computer related questions - good sites is http://computer.howstuffworks.com/ or http://www.ehow.com/information_1220-computer-troubleshootin g.html or from the How To Geek site but I tend to favor Microsoft's Technet sites but its mostly useful if you already have a good understanding of microsoft products. For hardware I go to the manufacturers sites for info when I need it. Biggest advice I can give you is NEVER download anything that claims that'll it will fix your registry problems or that it'll scan your computer for problems online (in 99% of the cases, you are allowing them to install junk you'd never get rid of). Have a TRUSTED antivirus program - there are few to none free antivirus programs I'd trust my computers to. I trust Symantec for home and work machines and yes - its not free. I also don't trust ISP's online virus detection capabilities - Comcast has one, but isn't it strange how 50% of the viruses seem to come through on their email servers into your inbox (never download email directly to your machine, read it on their servers and only from people you know). Ok, that's my tips of the day ,  Oh and another tip - Don't use your ISP's email services, get a disposable one (hotmail, googlemail, etc) I personally can't stand yahoo anything (nor hotmail for the most part, but gotta have one for microsoft logins to my technical materials).

On forums, keep in mind that I'll consider anything that benefits both the members and PontoonStuff since they are hosting the forums. That's why I haven't really considered a fishing forum, because it has no benefits for PontoonStuff (not really). However I have been giving some thought that can include that (I'm still working on details and about to present my ideas to the other forum staff for further discussion - since I do love fishing).

Is there a way to make the text larger.  At my age, it is hard for me to read the small text that currently appears on my screen.

I looked in the 'settings' area and did not find anything.  Thanks.

In internet explorer, click on View, Text Size and see what your setting is, and try different settings. Mine is set on medium with a monitor resolution of 1280x1024 on a 19in flat screen here at home. Seems I remember having to change the text size as the text size on web pages was too small. If that doesn't change enough for you. Then change your screen resolution to lower numbers (like 1024x768) experiment to see what works best for your screen.

Wildcat, not using Internet explorer.  I'm using Firefox.

This web site is the only one I have trouble with.  All the others have much larger print.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Thanks, Bob

In firefox you can push the ''Ctrl'' key and the ''+'' key at the same time it will make the text one step larger. If that isn't large enough you can do it again. If the text gets too large you push the ''Ctrl'' key and the ''-'' at the same time. If using the shortcut doesn't work for you the option is under ''View'', ''Zoom'', ''Zoom In'' or ''Zoom Out''.

Hi Bamby,

When you come back and it show no new topic, just drop the little menu box down under show posts since...

It will give you several options as to how far back you want to see the posts.  When I have to use it I usually just say since yesterday.  Hope this helps.  I didn't see an answer to tis question.  I hope I'm not duplicating.

Yeah, answered it but having different explanations on it always helps, so therefore you're helping and techically its not duplicating (since you answered it differently in plain english)   Sometimes us techies have a hard time relaying our thoughts in layman terms, kinda like when I worked law enforcement and me telling a drunk that he's drunk, he may still not understand that they are drunk because they are drunk

I was reading in another Forum about what that person considered a very good value. He was suggesting that the other members of that Forum go to the link and purchase that item. Will provide links in a moment for reference if you are interested. But since there are so many good members here why not start a Bargain Cave for instance. Is there a reason forum members should not have first opportunity  over a E-Bay customer. It seems strange to me not to offer the values or hear about them here first.

Is it safe to come back ? Anyway Pontoon Stuff is over stocked and has back to back boat seats on sale for $120 including shipping. Only grey and white in colors. I got mine and I thought I would pass it on.

The items sold at ebay by PontoonStuff is old stock and returns, they do it  every working day. It would be an impossible job for the guy who does the ebay stuff to alert members to 'deals' as that's not his only job.  On ebay its sold as is, at PontoonStuff direct, its guaranteed and no hassle return/replace so its not in their best interest to sell you something that they can't replace is my best guess.

Better check for yourself Wildcat. The items I looked at are new and the prices don't seem that bad ether. So I guess I'll just put it this way for everyone Pontoon Stuff has a E-Bay store available. They post there overstocks and discontinued items there to sell. I hate to see outsiders get the best opportunity to save money on there items. So if you are looking for anything for your boat save this link and look at the E-Bay site occansionally to see if there's anything there you may need over there.

Wish they had a scratch and dent sale on one of those reclining helm chairs... Nice to know they do have a site on ebay, even if it is leftovers and such. I see they do have a 7 days return policy...

Best I can tell you is to just call them to see what they have. I'll see if I can ask that question from Andrea/Sean to see if they would consider something like that for the forum members (hey, all I can do is ask right?)
