I first came across this forum when I was looking for info on accesories for our pontoon. We decided to purchase our Bentley for use on the lake we live on. I would have liked a 24 ft. but our CC&R's limit boat length to 21' and second boat HP to 75. Its used for dinner cruises on our lake plus I fish off of it. We also use it at the Colorado River below Blythe, Ca. We always bring both boats when we travel since most of the kids, grandkids, and friends come with us. It seems lately I've been watching the forums to find out when Bentley restatrs operations. I still like our boat but have seen some of the same minor problems I've read about in some of the forums( chrome covers on nav lights falling off, speakers not working intermittently, etc,). Our closest dealer was 400 miles away in Phoenix so it was easier just to deal with the minor stuff ourselves but when the blue vinyl started cracking and the bimini material started wearing thin we contacted the dealer. Yes, the seats and top material had a 5 year warranty and we had 2 1/2 years left according to the dealer and the would contact Bentley. This was May 08 and after getting little response the dealer bowed out and left us trying to deal with them. Long story short, we had to send our corner seat cushion( the smallest piece to Bentley) to send to their seat manufacturer to see if it was covered. Shortly after that their lack of customer service turned to no customer service at all. All I would like from them now is to return my seat since I'm getting ready to have the whole boat reupholstered before our Lake Powell trio this year. Its amazing that the white vinyl is still soft and like new and every inch of blue is hard and cracked.
Other than that we still have fun with it.

By the way, Wildcat Dude, one of the accessories I purchased for our boat was the under the deck ladder and by far the best investment for the money.

We rented a toon last year and the whole family had a ball on it. After some reasearch on the net we found this site and saw what can be accomplished by rebuilding and found a good canidate for rebuild. So we bought the boat and researched on this forum for repair tips and the rest is history.

Just moved to GA to take a new job, found a great house on West Point Lake with the hope of getting a boat. Having a baby girl and lots of family living near by I decided to go with a Pontoon. So I did some searching to learn more and found Pontoon Stuff.
It just so happens that my father in law owns some storage units and one of his tenants was storing a 2005 Sun Chaser with trailer. After some negotiating we struck a deal and now I'm a proud boat owner.
I have a ton of questions, mainly with some of the terminology, for example what's a four point? Yeah, I'm a very new newbie. Also I'd like to find out more info about my boat, manufacture, recalls, is there a free site that I can put in my HID and get some detailed info on my boat.
We just cleaned the boat up, looked for problem areas and found a few which I will address through the forum. I'm curious as to which thread I need to head to. I don't want to be that guy who is asking questions in the wrong area so please feel free to direct me to the best spot that I can call home. (Rebuild?)
Boat went into the water today for our first outing and it runs like a dream.

After owning 4 other boats I decided to get my wife and 2 little girls(ages 5 and 8) involved with fishing and boating. I bought a 1990 24' Lowe Pontoon and was looking to replace the furniture and buy some pontoon boat accessories in the near future( swim ladder, stereo systems ect..). After googling for such I found your site and dug around a bit and found the forum because I know I am going to have questions about pontoons since this is my first one and because I also tear stuff up.

I was surfing the web trying to find out what cleaners I can and can't use on the pontoon seats and carpet. Doing a search showed this link, and that's how I found it. Sweet!

I was invited to Cedar Creek Lake last year to 'fish' and cruise on a buddy's toon. Being a life-long bass boater, I laughed at myself but went anyway. I was floored and hooked all in the same breath.
He had an '84 24' that had been rebuilt and I knew it would be a great way for my family to get involved in the boating life I grew up enjoying.
The owner told me of this site as a great place to buy replacement furniture and that's when I found the forum.
I bought an '89 MonArk 24' last week and borrowed his trailer to move it 25 miles. I ended up with 2 blown tires on his trailer. More to come in another post on that.
I'm glad to be here!

Thank you to all the members on this forum! We recently bought an old pontoon boat to fix up, so I started searching the internet for furniture, etc. I had been on the sight a couple times and noticed the Forums link and became addicted! I knew I would have lots of questions because we're new at rebuilding, so I joined. I just posted my first question and within a few minutes I've already had several replies. This place rocks!

I found this site when I started looking at purchasing a toon. My buddy was buying a new toon and when the wife and I started contemplating buying his old boat and doing a little fixin' up, we wanted to see what kind of moullah we would be looking at. Googled pontoon furniture and found Pontoon Stuff. After looking at this web site, we decided to make an offer on the toon my buddy was selling. He made me an offer we couldn't refuse and we were suddenly Tooning around. We both enjoy tooling and tinkering on things and what better project. The old golf cart that I enjoyed tinkering on has taken a back seat and now has a for sale sign on it. I had joined a golf cart forum to help in the works on the cart and was looking for something similar to help in the new boating adventure. I found something better and more informative than what I was hoping to find. I scan through the forums on a daily basis and the wife and I have found some really great ideas for ours. We decided to use the boat the rest of the summer before making any drastic changes. Want to get a feel for what we like and don't like about what we've got. Glad we did, already realize our first idea was not very good and we wouldn't have liked it. Great winter projects to come.

well, i am a newbie alright. new not only to pontoon's but to boating all together. my wife & i just bought a 97' crest sport with a 99' honda 50 hp motor. we didn't think we would be able to afford a toon in decent shape for a decent price but we did and so we bought. knowing nothing about toons and no one to ask i immediately hit the net looking for toon info, prices of covers, props, carpet, toon cleaners, etc. saw this as one of the sites and was so pleased to find they not only had lots of toon stuff but a great forum that i expect to be a tremendous help to me now & in the future. my thanks to jim & andrea for creating this site and also to wildcat dude and cattzap for so very quickly answering my query. it really made me feel great, welcomed and cared about. i have already spent about an hour reading about all the different posts about cleaning toon logs. we have a little cabin on a beautiful lake in northern wisconsin called lake nabagamon. its about 25 miles south of superior wisconsin. we live in one of the many suburbs of minneapolis and like everyone else here just live for the summer. anyway, thats just a little about us. looking forward to learning as much as i can from others and hopefully down the road being able to help somebody else. THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYBODY!!! oh, our boat is 20'X81/2'

Trucks? Umm no, this is about pontoon boats and its main focus is helping those to rebuild and maintain older boats. Do you have a pontoon boat or trying to buy one? Now we do mention trucks as what pulls our pontoon boats back and forth to launch sites.

When it comes to my vehicles (daily drivers and rock toys) I'm a forum
junkie. I've found that forums are fully of great people with hands
on experience.
My in-laws bought a 24' Monark in need of restoration. So, first thing
I did was type 'pontoon forum' into my favorite search engine. And
poof here I am.
After reading several forums you guys seem to have the best community of supporters.

My wife and I have been married 20 years, and we kinda grew up together. Neither of us have ever even thought about a boat. About 8 years ago, we bought several acres of farm land, cleared it, fenced it, and put in a barn and some cattle. Five years ago, we built our house and had our first of 2 little girls. Our house / farm just happens to be 50 yards from a rather large lake in North Texas. My little girls are 4 and 5 now; just starting to be where they can enjoy the experience. Initially I thought I would get a paddle boat, but I quickly realized that would only be satisfying the first couple of times. I took my reluctant wife to a boat dealer that sold G3 pontoons a few months ago, and we spent quite a while looking around. As we were leaving, she said 'you're terribly evil. I really liked those pontoon boats.' Since then, we've also been to see a Sun Tracker dealer, and we're planning to go look at Premier and Crest dealers nearby.
So, I've been waffling between getting a nice newer (probably used) pontoon boat, or trying to find an old one to rebuild. I'm pretty handy and can build almost anything, but I have a demanding job and the 2 little girls at home. Large financial purchases take me a long time; I expect that I will research through the winter and probably into the spring before I finalize what our needs, requirements, and wants are.
Btw, this site is very informative. Thanks to the participants and administrators who have provided it.

Hello Stephen (aka shorton), welcome to the forums. Got a great bunch of people here. Glad to see you come join us. Be sure to post some pics of your boat(s) in the 'Show Off Your Pontoon' section (or rebuild depending if you have before/after pics), as we'd love to see them. Also tell us your story in How did you come to join the forums? (just click on the red link and tell us all about it ). You probably did like a lot of us have. Looking for pontoon accessories and either found it through www.PontoonStuff.com ebay site or web store. Jim (administrator) and Andrea (pontoongirl) Myers (our hosts) have excellent staff members to help them help you find whatever it is you're looking for your boat and has excellent shipping and customer service. Have fun and happy boating. Be sure to edit your signature line to include details of your boat and motor so folks won't have to ask for it if questions arise later. Also visit our other sections like Where are you? so others will know what part of the country you're from. If you need any help editing your uploading your photo's, check out our primer here How To Upload Your Pontoon Boats Image, if you need help resizing them check out Software that helps you with pics & such. Be sure to review the posting rules and policies of the forum. If you have any issues with seeing photo's this link will explain it Issue regarding seeing photo’s on site. Please read all the posting rules. Some forums have additional specific rules for that category.
By all means, do lots of research and take your time as this is a major step. I think though you've already narrowed down your choices though based on your job demands its seems feasible to me that'd you would go the new boat route so you don't have to expend the time and energy needed for a rebuild. Not only that, warranties come into play as well as the dealer who would service you among other aspects. Your girls will grow up on that boat and you guys would have loads of fun whenever your job will let you (just don't let it slip away while they are small though)

Hi! Well, let me see. I am a big fan of forums. Dogs, pellet stoves, RV's, they all are a huge help. So naturally, I looked for a pontoon forum. I found two and here I am! I've been boating most of my life. My last boat was a 14 foot Baja jetboat and the boat before that was a 36 foot Carver Mariner which my wife and I lived on every summer for 7 years so I've got lots of experience...just not too much with 'toons. One of my hobbies is buying used, neglected boats and fixing them up and eventually selling them. My hope is to do this to my Aloha, use it for a couple of years then sell it and buy a newer, smaller, 'toon with a four stroke.

Hey Troops, Thanks for letting me in to the group. We have been looking
for a Pontoon boat for the last 4-5 year. Bought really late in the season this
year, so my 10 y/o daughter and I are getting all our ducks in a row for a
full 2010 season. We have several friends that have lake front property
within 10 minutes of our home that allow us Spring/Summer dock use. How
does one beat lake front property without paying the taxes:) In my years of
searching, I stumbled here and have been lurking ever since. Now that I am
an owner, I hope to be more active in the forums. Thanks !

Sounds like a good plan for next year. And the dock/property price can't be beat. Shoot us some pics of your toon when you get a chance in the 'Show off your Pontoon' section. We love to see pics.. Also, include the info (year and make) of your new toon and motor in your signature. Again, welcome and we look forward to your posts..

Hello everyone, I have been lurking around here for a while and thought it was time to chime in.... I had a bow rider and the wife and I just kept looking at the pontoons and kept saying one day, well that day came at the end of august this year. I got around boats by doing vinyl graphics and boat names for all the marinas here and said we have to get a boat for our own. This was 3 years ago. boy what a long way I have come!. I came to the forums by way of Google searching for pontoon boats accessories. Thanks for the time Bob
