Hello again, I am back with more pics of the rebuild.  The following pics are the deck removal.

The helm still needs to be removed, Jeff did not remove it yet as he did not know the best way to remove the steering.  Of course, I found a thread in this forum with some suggestions.  Jeff will be tackling the steering this weekend.  He ran outside at 10 pm one night to see if there was a pin as one of the threads suggested.  He did not see a pin and will probably take the steering loose from the motor instead of at the helm.  He is concered it will not fit up through the hole in the existing deck piece still in place.  The hole in the deck is right on top of the toon.

The deck was removed.  The upholsterer is ready for us to get the new seat pedastals to her so the redecking will have to wait.  Here are some pics of the seat pedastal rebuild.  Jeff and I used my Dad's handy dandy table saw to pre-cut all the pieces to assemble the pedastals.

We cut all the pieces and assembled the 4 forward pedastals in one weekend.  This included taking a trip to Lowes and Home depot to find a particular glue Jeff wanted to use.  It is a 3M product, Marine Adhesive 5200.  We used this to glue the peices together as well as screws.  We upgraded the pedestals a bit as the original was made with some pieces in 1/2 inch and some in 5/8 inch.  We used 5/8 inch all around.  We are using regular exterior sheating.  Jeff is caulking all the joints and painting with an exterior paint.  The outside of the pedestals will be covered with marine grade vinyl upholstery.

The first seat in the row of four has the new seat backs sitting on the new pedatal.  This has become a 3 weekend project as the Marine Adhesive takes 7 days to cure.  We also ran out of 2x6 when pre-cutting all the pieces so we had to cust the final seat supports and assemble the 2 dining seats last weekend.  Jeff also sanded all the edges (our upholsterer requested we sand the edges to make her job easier and not to snag the new vinyl), he caulked and started to paint the forward pedestals.

We will finish all the sanding, caulking and painting the pedestals this weekend.  Jeff will also start to rebuild the helm once he gets the steering cable disconnected.

I should add, it is a very good thing we are doing the re-deck this winter.  When removing the furniture, galley and head we found more places that were waiting for a foot to go through the floor. The bolts would not come out of the ladder of the end of the head structure because the wood was so rotted. Jeff pushed the ladder sideways and the bolts came through the floor.  Same thing with the head structure, tilted it sideways and it came loose bolts and all.

Here is Jeff's design for the arm rests at the end of the forward seats.  We saw a totaly tricked out party barge on a website and it explained how they installed 10 inch sub woofers into the arm rest to give indirect sub sound.  Jeff (aka Tim Tool Time Tayler) is making it so!!! The follwoing pics are the speaker boxes that will connect to the arm rest cabinets.  The first one is the speaker box with the baffles and it will also be ported.

This pic is the upper cabinet and arm rest.  It will have two cup holders in the top.  The pencil line will be the door to access the cabinet for storage.

This one is the speaker box and cabinet/arm rest attached.  There will be furniture type legs like is on a couch to hold the cabinet off the deck.

Hi peppyjd,  We purchased the redeck kit from PontoonStuff.  Here is the contents of the kit.  The roll of stuff in the pic is the sealer for the joints.  You lay this along the cross members and it seals the joint as well as seals it to the cross member.  The box includes the desk screws, fence risers, fence bolts, tar tape, carpet glue and spreading trowel.

Here is some of the entertainment equipment.  The amp board is installed in the helm.  The stereo is a Pioneer AVIC-Z1.  It has a 30gb hard drive.  When you load a CD you can automatically download the contents into the hard drive.  It has a touch screen display, GPS with navigation, (I can find the gas stations and shopping areas when out on a lake or river), DVD player and all the bells and whistles of a stereo system.  Getting all the functions to work was a little interesting.  The deck is designed to be installed in an auto that has a parking brake and neutral safety switch.  Nothing Jeff aka McGiver cannot overcome.  We actually work together as a great team.  I read instructions and he applies the technology.  This thing even has a rear camera to see what is behind you.  It powers up a JL Audio amp 6x450 and a Rockford Fosgate 4x400 amp, 200 watts out of the radio with a total of 4500 watts.  The amps power up 8 Infinity Kappa series speakers, 2 10 inch JL Audio sub woofers and 4 Infinity Reference series.  The 19' HD LCD TV hooks right up to the stereo, you can view a movie on the stereo screen and the TV at the same time, Full Metal Jacket is awesome with this sound system.  Jeff says you will here us in NY. (I will be deaf).  The TV is powered with a 1500 watt power inverter.  Mr McGiver is not done yet, we are adding a dual mic karoke system this year. This is all powered with 3 golf cart batteries located under the captain's seat.  The golf cart batteries work quit nicely.  We have a solar panel charger on the roof to trickle charge the batteries.  We also carry a small generator.  The motor batteries are separate and not on the same system.  We went to the river on a Friday afternoon played the stereo with amps on most the entire weekend and watched 3 movies and did not have any battery issues.  We still had power to spare. (The amps have a separate on switch, they do not come on automatically when the stereo unit is powered on.

Back to the rebuild pics.  We had a boat rebuilding party on Saturday.  Thank you very much to friends and family for all your help.

Pedastals and seat parts were being painted:

Staples were being removed from the roofing material: (the wood is wet and has dry rot in a few places and must be dryed and repaired)

The helm and the last of the deck was removed.  Holes were drilled around the rusted screws and the board removed. 

The old tar tape was scraped off the cross members using a fancy tool made out of a car leaf spring.  My dad uses these leaf springs for scraping, prying, weeding and a whole lot of other odd jobs.

The polishing began on the toons, well one of the toons:

RR37075 ::  We had a great time with family and many friends last summer.  The little ones caught the fish on one of our overnight adventures.  It was quite amazing as my friend and I were in the water sitting in the floating island, the stereo was on low and the kids still caught fish.  Nice fish too!!!

Scottbee :: Did you stick to the aluminum?  We are getting up into the 70's and I wish we were far enough along to set the deck and carpet but we need to ginish getting her cleaned up and we have to get the seat pedastals to the upholsterer.  While the seats are being completed we can work on the deck.  We may be having some great warmish weather right now to work on the boat but we need rain if we will do any boating this year.  We can't even launch in some of our area lakes as there are no ramps in the water.  They make dirt ramps for the little fishing boats and jet skis but we could not launch.   We still may be able to launch in the river but there a a lot of rocks and other hazards, sand bars.  You can't see them until you hit them, not good!!!

Jeff and Bro tackled removing the helm, it was easier than he thought.  He removed 1 bolt and nut and the steering cable was loose to be unwound.  The steering cable is fed through a tube and appears to only go one way to be rewound once we are ready to put it back together.  The wood of the helm was rotten as expected and the rebuild began.

Jeff had a plan to remodel the helm to include a bar in the front of the helm.  He needed to make measurements as the helm sits on the deck with the support beam of the roof and the fence in place.  He took the deck board and set the old helm in place, set the fence in place and clamped the beam in place to get the measurements.

Another weekend of wonderful CA weather to finish the painting of the pedastals.  Whoo-Hoo!!  The pedastals are painted thanks to a lot of help from friends. 

We have decided we own a boat yard!  The boat is all over the yard.  The front yard ::

Jeff will complete building the helm during this coming week.  More painting next weekend.  The cabinets that attach to the speaker above is almost completed.   Next weekend we should have all the interior seating and cabinets ready to go to the upholsterer.  Then will come cleaning and polishing the railing on the fences.  We worked a little at cleaning and buffing the toons.  We are concerned about using the A/C coil cleaner on the toons because we are on well water and concerned about the cleaner leaching into our ground water.  The boat is on the trailer so we are also concerned the A/C Coil Cleaner will soak into the carpet and wood of the bunks and what will that do to the bottom of the toons??? I found a powdered cleanser 'Zud, heavy duty cleanser'.  I am using a Black & Decker cordless ScumBuster Extreme to scrub the toons.  It has a scrub brush attachment that is not scratching the toons.  Our toons do not have too much build up of gunk but enough they need to be cleaned before buffing.  I am scrubing with the Zud and then wet sanding with 600 grit sandpaper.  It seems to be working well.  I didn't take pics of this but there is plenty of toon to scrub and polish so will take pics to show how it is working next weekend.
