The weather is finally changing...so, I am taking the plunge and starting the re-deck and complete rebuild of the pontoon. I bought the new floor, carpet, glue and seats from PontoonStuff. Still need to buy the bimini, but that is still to come (I have to save some more coin)...

The floor was soft (took a picture of the bottom for those of you that are interested).

Thought I'd throw in a picture of my old console compared to the one I purchased from PontoonStuff. Very Nice!

I'll be painting the rails and sides a cream/white color. I'll also be putting on custom vinyl graphics. I'll post pics as I progress in addition to putting pics of the teardown. Wish me luck!

Good luck and don't forget to square up the toons after you get the floor off and as you put the 4x8's on. What weight carpet did you go for? Yep, I can see spots where the delamination of the wood is occuring. Good thing you're doing it now. I assume you got a covered and warm area to do this rebuild in? (glue needs 60-65 degrees for 24hrs).

Well, I live in Texas and it's still in the low 80's here...and will probably be through December. Even on a cold day, it's in the 40's...but that is what we would call a really cold day. I don't have anywhere covered, so I'll be doing this in the open (and I'll make sure the day is warmer than 65 degrees). I bought the following carpet from Pontoonstuff:
'20oz textured pontoon boat carpet, 2 gallons of our marine adhesive, 100 deck screws and 32 fence risers, deck joint tape to cover your aluminum cross channels and a free trowel.'

Does anyone know of a company that sells the bimini top where the flaps come down the back (see picture above) like on my pontoon? I have looked everywhere and can only find bimini tops where the flaps come down the sides. I guess I can have a new top made, but that may cost me more than just replacing. Any thoughts?

I don't know who sells them, but my old Sundancer had one just like it. Might help in your search..

That's called the buggy style with side tails. I won't mention the stores where you can get them from as I'll let you preuse my findings and then let you compare that to a replacement fabric from PontoonStuff. Those tails act as the support poles on traditional bimini's (to keep it from coming any further forward). Here's the search results buggy style with tails

I am finally tearing down my little pontoon. I will be painting the rails/fence, replacing the floor, carpet, and furniture (courtesy of Pontoonstuff.com). I am hoping to have it all completed by the first weekend in May for an outing. I'll post more pictures as I progress...

Good job getting it started. Moved your post to here since you already had a thread going in rebuild we like to keep it all together from start to finish.

Humm, no its been open, they only close after 6 months of no activity. Might have looked at something else Cool, we like to see pics of progress. So what else do you have plans for during the rebuild? You know ezacdc site has some really cool stuff for electrical wiring and a new switch panel/fuse panel and harness could ease your wiring job . I see the redeck kit, console and you mentioned seats. What kind of seats did you get? Just how big is that buggy anyways as I don't see it in your signature (length). Have you got an inside place to work on it? Weather really has been hampering my work (rain, rain, snow, rain rain, sunshine, rain, rain rain tornadoes, rain, rain) I'm sick of rain.

We are short on rain in Texas, so send some our way. I don't have anywhere indoors to work on it...so, it is open air! And it looks like we are getting some much needed rain the remainder of this week...

We have been in a severe drought now for 16months. I sure hope we get some of that wet stuff soon... My boat is 20feet long with a 2 stroke smoker (but runs strong).

Adding a couple more pics... I started wet sanding the fence panels and getting them prepped for the paintjob.

This is my buddy Dave helping me out with some sanding.

I am also including a completed (Primed) not painted pic. It is coming along...just not as quick as I'd like...It's alot of work! But hopefully, well worth it!.

Can Dave come over and help me sand? Sanding is so much fun. LOL. really it's very time consuming, but rewarding.
I'm not sure how much more you have to do, but when I did my panels, one thing that was a real timesaver was to put them up on sawhorses and use clamps to hold them in place. It helped me not get smudgy fingerprints on the panel, helped the panel not end up on the ground, and may help Dave not pull a muscle in his back!
Your panels are going to look great. What color are you thinking? Are you going to stay with the bare aluminum rails, or paint those too?

I am painting the rails too. I am matching the cream color of the seats with burgundy vinyl stripes. That's a great idea...using the clamps on the saw horses to keep them from falling! I'll keep posting pics as I progress...sanding stinks!

Adding another pic of a primered fence (notice the rails are primered too). I am using self etching primer over the entire fence/rail surface.

I am using Dupli-Color Self Etching Primer. Depending on where you buy them you can spend $3 to $6 a can. I bought all I could at a local autostore that had them for $3 a can (cheaper than Wal-Mart). It went on real nice. I was looking at buying a premixed laquer that Dupli-Color sells by the quart, but it only comes in certain colors, like white, red, blue, etc...etc... And I wanted a cream color. So, I consulted with a local auto paint shop and they suggested using spray paint. If I ever need to touch up the paint for whatever reason, it is easier with spray paint without having to pull out my compressor and gun. I found the color I wanted to match the PontoonStuff seats and voila, I painted my first rail/fence yesterday. It came out amazingly nice (see below). Pics didn't come out as clear as I'd like (it's overcast this morning). Maybe once the sun comes out I'll take a couple more pics.

Those panels are really going to look sharp. I have been pondering what to do with the aluminum panels on my Misty Harbor. They aren't in bad shape but the stripes are weathered...problem is the aluminum is that 'Dimpled' kind that will make it impossible to scrape, (stickers), and I can't heat from the other side because there is a carpet backing on the inside of the panels....(Maybe some plastic sticker eating spray or something?) I just placed the order this morning for my graphics... I am going with the Coca-Cola font for the name of the boat (back of the pontoon in large letters). Maybe I'll stick with the Coca-Cola theme and use the Coca-Cola wave as the stripes...Hhhhmmmm. Then maybe I can get them to sponsor my fuel while out on the lake??? Alright, enough dreaming.

Alright, so I am still painting and watching paint dry isn't very much fun...So, I decided to start putting my console together. I haven't started wiring anything, and am not looking forward to that part - maybe this week sometime.

I'll be adding a digital depth finder under the Tach (so I left a little space there)...
