great topic for my question... I am going to a larger thickness like 20 or 28 oz. carpet.... it won't squash down to put the side rails back on... hhhmmm....may have to think about stickin with original thickness of carpet.. .cant afford all the aluminum railing to be replaced......

may have to think about that.....

Charles... thats a great thought.....

cut the peice in the middle... weld 1/8th in center....creates the space for 20oz. carpet... need to look into that.... fortunately know some welders so shouldn't be a prob

thanks for the idea... and yeah,.... those rails are NOT cheap!!!!!!!!

I see he decided to put the replacement fencing on the outside like I originally did (but did a better job than I did). One of the gates.

Yes, do tell about the new fence skin install.  I will not tackle that this year but that piece of the project is on the list.  My skins are the dimpled kind and it will be next to impossible to get the old decals off.  Nice job on the third toon also.

The installation of the 3rd toon was actually easy. I just used the brackets that are welded onto the tube and bolted them at the crossmembers. The paneling is the vinyl paneling that is sold on PS but I got some heavy duty 2 sided tape and put that on the aluminum. I cut the paneling to size and then laid it on the taped railing. One side of the paneling has more of a glossy finish which is the side I wanted to be seen. I cut the paneling,with a stanley knife, from the opposite side which kinda left a sharp edge on that side but I got a smooth edge on the glossy side. I will be putting some pop rivets in to help hold the paneling. It did require 2 people to skin the one section of railing since it was a 126in piece by 18-1/4. I am really please with the way it looks. I saw a new Bennington (last year)  with the paneling on the outside and I thought it looked really slick. My daughter is drawing some ideas for decals for the boat. Since we are Notre Dame fans, we are going to go with a 4 leaf clover design that she did.

Ya...It's been a busy summer.  I snooped here a few weeks back for just a bit but didn't post.  I never planed on going W/O a 'toon for too long, and I actually have 2 project boats right now.  But that's another thread, for anther day

BIG THANKS to Mr.Diesel for getting the motor running. It always helps to have talented friends.

Wildcat- Sidney and I have settled on a 4 leaf clover design but we haven't taken it anyplace to get a decal made. I'll wait for spring for that.
