GusGray just sent me some pics of his rebuild process - you'll have to go back to the last post of his to see the pics as he'll fill in on what's going on. At first glance, it looked like he was destroying the boat, guess he took a handy tool he had to remove and dispose of everything above the toons

Hello all!! It has been a while since I have posted
anything on here. I think it because the project is
taking a lot longer than I thought with a lot more work
involved. Wildcat gave me a little kick in the butt to
get more pics up(Thanks for the help!! I need it.) Well
where we left off I was trying to strip the paint off the
pontoons which I found this miricle stuff called aircraft
stripper. You can buy it at any auto parts store. This
stuff is great but don't try it unless you want bare
metal. If any wants to know more about the process just
ask. It is real easy stuff to work with. Also as you
can see from my pics the house structure did not make it.
As I started to gut the in side I noticed that the
ceiling was getting lower and lower after some more
investgation I found that all the studs were rotten for
about the first two feet. The panneling and siding were
the only things holding up the walls. So I had to back
up and punt. I started pulling the metal off the outside
and cutting out the studs and bracing the roof as I did
it. Until I got it down to one wall. Then used a
tractor to pull it the rest of the way down. I also
finally found a trailer that would fit my boat and not
break the bank. So it is land mobile now. I have
mounted the new motor pod and am working on the third
toon this weekend. I will try not to let my updates slide
again and will be praying for happy boating in 2010.

You can get the same stuff at Lowes, Menards, Home Depot get the stuff in the red can. It is alot cheaper than aircraft stripper, comes in gallon cans and is very nearly as effective. I stripped 5 layers off my project boat with it.

Now she is a tri toon! Also a new motor pod. I just have to replace the wood in it. About the decking. Should I wait till the spring for the decking? The reason I ask is cause it will get cold soon so I worried about the carpet glue. It will not cure in the cold so that will have to wait. If I wait on the decking that puts me at a stand still. I can't even work on the toons. I hate winter!!

Depends on how cold you're talking about, it will cure but very slowly so instead of 8 hours you could be talking days, but you don't want it too cold as the water in the glue needs to evaporate

After seeing your pics, don't forget to make yourself a new transom. Speaking of transom, you never indicated what motor you have for your toon, inquiring minds want to know.

Sorry the wood in it in my last post I was talking about is
the transom. As for the motor I already have a 48 hp
Johnson SPL rebuilt at the farm all winterized just waiting
for next summer. The reason I changed the motor pod though
was because I am hoping for a 115 hp later but as always
money will dictate when. Not for speed of coarse but just
better response in the handling.

If you don't have a shed and heater its tough this time of year. Some of the guys have rented enclosed boat storage places to work on thiers and brought their own portable heater.
