I'm having a Marine Surveyor take a look at my boat next Tuesday.  I sure hope that he likes what he finds!!!!

His boat is totally home made, somebody has to inspect it for maritime use to obtain a HIN. You're not suppose to be on the waterways, correct WoodenPontoon

Charles - You're correct about the inspection.  I actually have already received the HIN from the State last year.  I  need to have the inspection performed in order to get insurance.  I'm not required to have insurance (at least not in Connecticut), but I kinda think its a good idea.

I'm curious to see what kind of value he puts on it.  I spoke to him this afternoon and he briefed me on some of the things that he will looking at.  He seemed most helpful.

Well, I had my survey a week ago. The surveyor loved my boat. He took my application number with him and faxed the report directly to the insurance company for me. They had their copy 3 days before I received my copy. I had insurance as of midnight Thursday, I could not have asked for better service. Both the surveyor and the insurance people (BoatUS) did a fantastic job!!!!!!

It is comforting to know that she is now insured. Hopefully, I'll never need to use it!

Congrats Dan! Too much time and sweat you put in to not have her insured. Glad it worked out well..

You didn't say what value he put on it. I'd say at least 70 grand if not 100. After all, its a one of a kind and very unique.

He said it was worth between 70 and 80 without even batting an eye!

Outstanding work Dan.  Got the insurance.  I agree, it would be a real shame to have to use it.
