you would think when you're morning starts out like this, it's going to be a stellar day.

Well, things got off to a great start. The ride down was filled with laughter and fish stories. We dropped in the water, and started the pursuit. The tide was a foot higher than last time. This could get interesting. I followed a small cut, towards a larger shell-free pocket. With all of the fog, and overcastedness, I opted for a black/ chart head skitterwalk. I walked the dog all over that darn lake with nothing to show for it. As I approached the northern end, I spook 2 seperate reds. Finally, some signs of life. Off in the distance, I see the tip of a tail puncture the surface. I intentionally overshoot the target by 30 feet or more, so I don't spook him. After about 5 side to side motions, my skitterwalk vanishes in a sucking boil of water. Pay dirt. A healthy 23.5 incher. We say healthy, but if he was a kid in your gym class in jr. high, he would be the fat one.

About 5 minutes after this, all *word not allowed* broke loose. You could see it coming across the bay. And there I sit, in a T-shirt. My $4,000.00 worth of raingear about 3/4 of a mile away. Needless to say, I was soaked to the bone by the time I got back to the toon. The rain and thunder gave us all the same idea, so we loaded up and headed back. I actually only fished for about an hour and a half. At least every one of us caught fish. (myself, bogdog, toolman, Baystalker, and REDline)
The trip back was a little less fun, being soaking wet, and bucking a 15 mph headwind. But we finally made it back. Here's the toon with 5 yaks. You should see the looks we get from the other boaters.

Here's a few shots of the monstrosity on dry land. That is a full-size GMC crew cab. She stands just under 12 feet tall on the trailer.

Until next time.
