Checked out the weather forecast for this coming weekend, Thursday is 30% rain and thunderstorms high of 91, Friday and Sat will be sunny and pretty warm (HOT) 93 and 95 but for tooning and our weekend, I guess that'll be just fine.

How many of you want to fish? Cruise? what else do you want to do? I'll be bringing some tools (cordless drill/driver, etc) and I have some LED light strips I'll be bringing with me (Red).  I'm thinking of a fishing contest - say we all put $5 in the pot and whoever brings in the Biggest Fish wins the pot. ($5 a boat?). I plan on printing several Google Earth overlays of the area. The dam isn't too far away. Brian, are you bringing scuba gear (oh and fishing is from topside with rod & reel)  as we know Brian could skunk us if we let him dive. This would be on Friday (afternoon?)  or Saturday morning ?   I know I'll have to be at the dock by 11:15am so I can go to Malvern to get the hog to be back by sometime soon after 12:15 - 12:30.

I'll get with Holiday Inn Express Thursday to finalize their Breakfast Room payment and get other details. Such as would they allow us to get ice from them?  Cleanup arrangements, anything else like that? Anyone else got ideas, questions I or others should consider. I need to call Clarion about those dock slips to see if we can leave our boats in the water (if its free or a little charge).

I think my boys will want to fish. I am up for the tournament. I am planning on bringing scuba gear just to say I dove in this lake. I don't think the visiblilty is much and will probably not stay long. The spearfishing is usually harder than catching them with a rod n reel. Wife is working on getting stuff together and will be in touch with everyone this week. Will probably be after 5 Friday before I get there with my boat as it is in storage up at Lake Ouachita.

Just talked to my oldest son and he is definitely going. He is handy with a guitar and has played at more than one dinner club. He is willing to play for us either at lunch or whenever. He mostly plays country (old & new) and some rock n roll. It thats something everyone is interested in let me know. Also Charles my wife PM'd your wife back (under my name) about the arrangements. I have been gone for over a week. I think Robert is bringing the tea and supplies. If that is incorrect Robert please let us know!

Maybe we'll finish Saturday afternoon out with a little fishing tourney, either that or we'll just go fishing period. I'll be in sometime Thursday so I'll be checking out the hot spots (besides hot weather) . Hey, maybe we can do a little night fishing Friday night,  we can tie up together off the end of some little island if we can locate the fish. Others can join up if they want if you guys ain't wore out from traveling.

I'm up for whatever Friday afternoon and Saturday.  I should be home from work by 5:30 Friday if anybody wants to meet up for a late afternoon cruise.  I can show some people around the lake.  We could go around on one boat or get a couple of them together.

What else is needed for lunch on Saturday?  What can we bring?

Brian, visibility is not anywhere near what it is in Ouachita or Degray.  In fact, I don't know if I have ever seen anybody diving in Hamilton.  That's not to say it can't be done.  Just watch for boat traffic when surfacing.

vondy, here's what bboater said he'll do. I know, how about some dip and chips?  If there's leftovers, we could tie up together out there on the water somewhere and have an evening meal or something, anything to save on evening dining expenses you know

Works for me.  I'll get the wife to make a couple different dips.  Anything leftover we can bring out on the boats.  What is the head count looking like right now?

I'm up for some fishing whenever.  I'll have to warn you.  I have not done much fishing on Hamilton so I'm not really sure where to go.  Might have to leave that up to the experts.

Not a problem when I've got Google Earth (see map overlay on page 4), that combinded with fish finders we should have a ball. So far the people count is still 16 as BreamSlayer71 hasn't answered my emails nor indicated any further interest in this thread but had said they would come and camp on their boat. So without her group the count is still 16. So if she and whoever comes with her shows, it could be 18 or more. Oh and I'll pm each one of you guys to give you my cell phone number so you'll have it in case you don't catch me at the hotel. Brian, what do you think the time frame will be for you to deliver the hog for cooking? I figure I'll contact the chef on Thursday to see if I need to pay in advance. We'll save the big bones in case I need to go back and chunk them at him if we don't like how its cooked . otherwise my dog will love to have a big bone or two.

I know this is kind of late and you may already have final arrangements made in Malvern, but have you checked with any of the BBQ places in Hot Springs to see if they would smoke the pig for you.  That would keep the drive to pick it up much shorter.  I know Rolands will smoke turkeys and hams for people.  Never thought about them doing a whole pig.  Just a thought.  Sorry I didn't think about it earlier.

Well consider the normal price is $200-250 to smoke that size pig, I figured $100 wasn't too awful bad. We (wife that is) had checked several places and none responded to inquiries except for Pam (think I mentioned her earlier) who put us on to this guy who said he's done several whole pigs and hogs. Plus, its better than us (or somebody watching the pot) trying to stay up all night cooking that bad boy

Is it the same number I have from when you got the motor? If it has changed let me know. Also waiting to hear from architect. The job may be moved to another day or later Friday. Hopefully they will move it to another day and I can come on earlier Friday. Rick my wife will most likely take plenty of pics to post

BreamSlayer71 just pm'd me, her boat is in the shop, so they won't make it, so I guess the grand total is 16 unless somebody shows without notifying us (we'll make they pay a cover charge)    Oh yeah, wife will have couple of cameras and I'll have my cell phone camera that has a 2 gig mem stick on it, so I can take several short videos. I can post them to some video sharing service. I plan on getting another mem chip or two.

Dito on the cameras, wife even broke out the movie camera and read up how to operate it again. Never thought that it would ever see action again until there were grandbabies. Hope all have a safe trip, see you all there. Give a call if we need anything.

Looks like my fishing will defintitely be limited to early morning and late afternoons. Some cruising during the HOT midday.

Thats hot even for me! I wish I was going though. That cool water would feel good on a hot day like that, to say nothing of a cold porkchop!

Normal August here! Long as the humidity is down that will be tolerable. Got good news today. The architect moved the bid day so I can leave as soon as we get the hog Friday AM. Wife says she thinks they open at 9 so that would put us in Malvern around 1PM and I should be able to be back at the hotel with my boat by 3 or so.

cool beans, looks like I'll be there around 4pm tomorrow depending on what time I finally get the boat cleaned up. Our bad little storm last night kinda did a job on the boat and made a mess. Had winds up to 60mph.  Brian, area you bringing any Slap Ya Momma seasoning? Wonder if the chef would put some of that on the porker   Course I could always add some at the table

Ok, man the humidity was terrible this morning, I did what I could and say to the devil with the rest of it, it'll wait . I spent too much energy getting loaded, should be outta Smyrna here in the next 40 minutes, gotta check weather to see what the heat index is gonna be. Should be in Hot Springs around 4pm. Gonna make a stop at the Bass Pro in Memphis for another set of bunk slicks. Humidity if 94% here and there, and in HOT Springs, heat iindex of 100 today, 102 tomorrow so be careful out there folks, we don't need heat stroke victims. (like me - I melt)

The butcher shop says they will let us in around 8am even though they don't open until 9. We should be out of here before 9 am. Hopefully I can get to Malvern by lunch. Charles I will call you when we get there. I also have Vondys number. Wife packed the Slap yo Mamma and beans, etc. I also had a friend killing rabbits today and he gave me two that we can throw on the grill or I will see how much extra he will charge to roast them with the hog

Cool, I haven't had rabbit in ages. Just checked into the hotel and holy smokes, for as much as they charge - and its suppose to be a handicap room .  First thing as soon as I opened the door the order of what seemed to be the bilge of a large barge smell hit me in the face - like a wet dog had been living in here for a month. #2, the room is SMALL compared to rooms I've paid half the price for (guess that's why I love staying at Hampton Inn's). Toilet is not handicapped height (main reason we need handicap room) but at least we came prepared for that. Least it has a walk in shower so that's good. Location ain't bad. They keep the gate locked to the slips (also good), only guests can get the gate open after hours. Man its hot. Had some trailer light problems that resorted to take a pair of pliers to twist the broken bulb out of the socket. Put the new one in wrong and couldn't get it back out - so had to break that bulb (good thing there were 2 in that package) . this time I paid attention which was the right way to put it in .   Talked to Robert (bboater).  TN had cops wall to wall on the interstate today (drug interdiction task force), plus couple campers wrecked (lost their trailers which went into the medium at the worst possible places for them), both were pulverized. Plus they were doing construction 3 lanes down to 1 tiny road on I40 just pass Memphis, that took 40 minutes to go 5 miles. So what I thought would take 6.5 hrs took instead 9.5 hrs total. I'll see you tomorrow.  Vondy its late now (8pm) so I'll call you tomorrow too. I know we won't be out in the heat during lunch hour (long lunch hour - 11-2 or so)

Charles,

Sorry about the hotel.  Hopefully it isn't too bad.  Also, I will PM you my work number.  Feel free to call me during the day today if you need anything.

If you can't get the rabbits cooked with the hog let me know.  I can cook them at the house tomorrow before the lunch.
