Oh and I do want to clear up any misconceptions that this is a PontoonStuff sponsored event as it isn't. Its totally out of the pockets of whoever helps out for the incidentals so kartracer28 might be asking for a small amount to help offset expenses This isn't an easy task to plan and manage. Just ask me and briankinley2004 and our wives

So I'm going to assume this IS in Houma, so do we have a central point/gathering point in mind for this occasion so those of us can plan which hotel to stay at. Personally I'm thinking the Baymont Inn as opposed to the Howard Johnson (better reviews even though further from the water) oh and plus Baymont Inn appears to be new (2008?)

I have put on Rod Runs (car shows) for 15 years here in Houma. I think I can get rooms for $65.00 per night at the Ramada Inn. Old yes But very well keep up and remodeled last year. With ONLY 9 months till D-DAY;;;;; YES I still do have a few thing to work on. More to come!!!!!!!

WCD,, To answer your question as for a meeting place,,, If we have 100 people or less I think most of the meals will be at my estate. As it gets closer we can get a feeling of what everyone wants to do and work from there.

To tell ya the truth, I didn't even look , I'm still wore out from the trip and I'm swamped at work (new budget year started, so several departments getting new machines, more servers and more VoIP deployments), its hectic for the next couple of weeks. But I call that job security

Cruising speed for a 40hp is about 10mph at most, all I could get out of my 40 on a 20ft was 14-15mph tops. So it'll vary toon to toon

What do you all think most will want to do when in Houma. That is other than EAT and have COLD PORK CHOPS. If some want to salt water fish I will have a guide bring you all out Sat Morning. Can make plans to be back around noon so that every one can go on the cruise. Cruise will go through the swamp that is a Nature Reserve, with cypress tress, gators , nutria ( will cook some for WCD ) Spanish Moss and almost any type of bird known to man... Please let me know your wishes as this gathering is for you all to enjoy!!!!!!

Never had nutria, not sure about gator although I've had plenty of opportunties. Now I certainly can go for the salt water fishing. Have you thought any more about some kind of cash entry to help cover the expenses for this shindig. At this stage I don't mind chipping in as December & Jan will be the months I'll be short on funds the worst (no work, no pay) so I'll have 2-2.5 months to play catch up. Ronney, the docks in the area, are they fixed or floating? Reason I ask, wife will be in a powered wheelchair by then. Really looking forward to the trip down there as we've got friends in Lafayette and surrounding area there. Wonder if my ex-wife's sister still living in Houma (married a cajun boy last name of Boudreaux), don't remember his first name. He's the one that introduced me to boiled crawfish back in 1976, my very first cajun dish (many many more since then).

I would, but there isn't enough traffic now in those threads to warrant another one. Besides, that would be covered under a thread we already have - Pontoon Fishing at its Finest

The Mandalay Wildlife Refuge is 6 miles West ,one way, from the boat dock. Great sighting seeing, swamp, gators, birds, swamp flower, and a few American Bald Eagles, is this to long of a run for the Poker Run. Then the industrial area ,ship building, offshore oil rigs etc., is about 2 miles east of the dock. The total run would be about 18-19 miles by the time you go into the refuge and back out. WHAT do you all think,,,, to long,,,,, to short !!!!!

Not sure of fuel considerations for appx 20 mile run??? Im up for whatever if I have enough fuel. I saw one of those bald eagles on the way to Fourchon to spearfish the rigs this weekend. He was sitting in a tree where 310 intersects I-10. I couldn't believe what I saw. Also has a big nest right there on the interstate.

Bumping this thread for our newer members who may not have seen this, plan your trip now as this is gonna really fill your tummy and have a good time. If you don't want to bring your toon, I'm sure there will be plenty of room on others who won't mind taking you along. Just be sure to let kartracer28 know you're coming. I'll be there but I doubt seriously I'll haul my toon that far.

Well darn, I just realized that we will miss the event next spring. We have chartered a 44 ft sailboat in the BVIs and will be down there that weekend. I would tell you that you will all be in my thoughts, but I'm not really sure that is true! LOL But I do wish that we could join you, I had been looking forward to it ever since we began talking about it.

MAN MAN MAN!!!!! Woody you know I am going to need some help teaching 'dem' Northerner how to peel crawfish. WCD will not be any help as I am sure he will be eating to much to help.
When Bald Eagle Scouting yesterday,,,, Found two nest and saw 3 flying,,, The young ones should still be in the nest for the Gathering.

All I can say, they better watch close cause the hands and mouth will be flying, as those crawfish will be gone lickety split at lighting speed . Only thing that'll slow me down, is the taters, corn, and onions I eat inbetween while I slurp a diet pepsi. I sure hate that Woody won't be there. He should have rescheduled his trip as this one preceded his plans

You may be lucky if you can get some of them to eat the crawfish and such the heads! LOL I really hate the schedule conflict as I'm sure everyone will have a great time! Glad to hear you've been out on the water spotting the eagles, that is always so fascinating. They are a majestic bird, and this is a beautiful time of year to be out (and you almost have it to yourself in most areas!) I'm hoping to get my boat out in Texas over the holiday weekend.
