Reading these other forums on the site is what have motivated me to post my own upgrades to my boat.  The boat is a 1990 JC Tri Toon 26 feet long with a 115 Mercury Inboard / Outboard.  I purchased the boat in 2006 and finally completed the engine rebuild / overhaul and now starting the Deck space renovations.  I will post picks as I go.  I welcome all comments

Rear view image of the outboard part of the boat.  The orginal owner (1990 to 2005) keep the boat in the water under a covered dock.  Getting those water lines off is a priority so I need the forum help in telling me how to do it the best way.

OK time to open up the package lol.....If those are aluminum toons there are a bunch of threads on here about that but I think the consensus is to use a/c coil cleaner to start with.

The Mercurizer 3.7 L Engine it uses the Alpha One outdrive.  Latest updates to it were the double battery upgrade, and you can see the red double battery switch mounted in the back of the photo.  that was so easy to install every boat needs those.  Also new exhaust baffles were installed, along with an exhaust boot.  It amazed me how much those simple things made the engine noise so little.  New spark plugs, wires, and seloniod, temp sensor.  e And what lead to the overhaul was a new water impeller.  The old one lead to the engine overheating and seizing up.  Let me tell you nothing is worse that your coworkers at the fire house come out on the water to help you because another boater saw the coolant steam and called in a boat fire.

Most any air conditioning supply house will have it. You will need to mix it with water. I would start with a weak mixture and experiment until you found what works. Get the pink kind not the green as the green is non acid. If you can't find it over the counter any a/c repairman should be able to get you some but you will probably pay more.

This is after the sanding of the wood.  I think this is teak wood but I don't know for sure.

After staining with Minwax Sedona Red.  This is the cover over the motor, but you should be able to see in later pics the wood table, and lounge arm tables that are already done.

OK time to open up the package lol..... as briankinley requested

The decals are in good shape so I will keep those, so mainly for the exterior I will use exterior LED's to replace the dock lights, and nav lights so I never have to worry about a blown blub ruining a night dive, and polish the toons

Looking good. Yes it will kill your grass if mixed strong. It killed mine but it grew back. You can do it on concrete and probably be ok but if really strong I'm sure it would etch concrete to some extent. If your really concerned you could put heavy visqueen without seams under it and probably reclaim most of it. Or you could go to a carwash and do it? Better yet take it to your neighbors yard and do it. I live in the woods so no big deal here but perhaps some of those who live in areas with well kept yards can chime in on this part.

Since the wife will not let me convert our personal boat into a Dive Boat only boat, I decided to make my own hybrid.  I removed one of the bench seats on both sides and replace them with a custom made dive benchs to hold eight divers but still leave cozy comforts for the family.  The carpet under the seat was good and solid so only fencing cleaning is needed at this point.

But you can see the wood table / arm rest in the bottom of the pics after they were completely refinished.  The seats will be replaced soon just haven't decided which one's from www.pontoonstuff.com . I am going to get.  The wood is still good so I will probably try to get them recovered and try to sell them.  I just want to go ahead and get the plastic seat bases if I'm doing upgrades.

Nice benches. Looks like your going with the roll control. I was going to build a set like that out of tubing. My welder found two plastic base benches at a friends shop so we took them and made these

http://www.pontoonstuff.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2765&a mp;PN=2&TPN=5

Since we plan to fish and spearfish from the 'dive shack' I was able to make a livewell out of one of the bench bottoms and use the other for dry storage. I may eventually go to backs like yours but I like the plastic bases with livewells. Do you do charters out of SC or is the boat strictly for training? Wife and I have talked about going to SC to dive the wrecks although we are not wreck cert. only AOW. Just checking the outside out would be cool.

we have a seperate pontoon boat that is 100% set up for diving for the shop.  But some times we need a second one.  and for when I want to go out on Search and recovery calls.  We are in the very top left of SC where NC GA and SC come together.  So we do Lake Diving Charters.  but Myrtle Beach and Charleston have good ocean charters.  But if you want to dive a few scenes out of the movie deliverance or a underwater water treatment plant we have lake sites like those in the three man made lakes we have in the area.

Well, I can give you a rough idea of the costs.  I went with the Premium Pontoon Furniture from PS...You will not be disappointed with the quality or feel.  I love the stuff.  Getting rid of the old furniture an desk was a HUGE weight saver.  It was all very waterlogged.  I made a run to the dump with the Decking, Furniture, (minus the old captains stand that would not fit), I think it was 850 lbs of junk.  The new furniture with the plastic frames is MUCH lighter.

Lets say, 4K.  That includes decking, carpet, furniture, (All to include top of the line captains chair), gauges, fuel tank and KICKIN' stereo, (yet to be installed).  I don't want to dig too much deeper, .   But, I basically have a new pontoon boat with a great running 150hp Mariner.  And, I didn't spend 30plus thousand!!!

Hope that helps.

Now he didn't say the waste water treatment plant, he said the water treatment plant, big difference between the two. Our plant would never let you get in ours (unless you're suicidal and they couldn't stop you) unless the basin was empty. There is machinery in there that will chew you up and spit you out into little bitty pieces many times over. Water goes one way, the rest goes another.

ok I guess I should explain the treatment plant diving.  The orginal town of seneca water intake plant was flooded when they filled the man made Lake Keowee in the it Mid 60's but the building is intact in 80 feet of water.  visit here and look in their photo link to see it

A/C coil cleaner didn't killl my grass (yet) and its been nearly 2 weeks.  I diluted it 2:1.

Also--you'd be surprised.  Post an add on Craigslist for your old furniture, and you may make a couple of hundred bucks.  More lucrative than hauling it off to the dump.

I've been using the PINK ac coiler for more then 30 years as well as many others & I have yet to hear a complaint from anyone that it killed their grass or their flowers. One must consider the fact that ac condensor untis are sitting OUTSIDE mounted on concrete pads or something suitable to stabilize them & to help prevent the bottoms of the units from rusting out.  When cleaning the coils used eithter full strength or diluted, it is safe to use as directed. If were NOT, the EPA would be having a field day with all the ac technicians everywhere as well as the manufacurers from all the law suits that would have been filed for people's grass & flowers being killed or worse. WATER is the DILUTING agent in every case. Once washed with plenty of water there is no danger with the cleaner at all.

Like I said, I've never once ever heard of anyone complaining over the use of any of the coil cleaners. I have known it to turn grass brown but it always came back as healthy as ever. I personally have never experienced that event myself & I am EPA certified to use any & all of the cleaning chemicals on the market. If used as directed & labled it is SAFE to use but like anything else MUST be used with caution & a little common sense. Coil is like anything else today. It can be abused by not reading the directions for proper use.
