Thanks all,
Still have several items left to do besides the mini-sundeck. Need to remove those panels in the rear corners and add one in the horseshoe. Need to install the bow lights, figure out where to mount the GPS and FF, as well as the stereo and speakers. Need to get the green fabric for the bimini tops replaced, need to decide where to install the battery for the trolling motor. Probably also a switch for the batter[y][ies] with a diode isolation.
Also need to replace the two vertical bumper carpet covered wood pieces on the trailer where the front of the boat hits against, when putting it on the trailer.
And of course, when (and if) I have extra time perhaps a cleanup of the logs. It's ok now, don't have to worry about keeping them shined up, I imagine that once polished they become maintenance items then and you have to keep them looking good?

Hey Pritch,
I love that US Army Retired sticker on the window. I did a few myself. Retired in 95 after 22 1/2 active.

Accomplishments this weekend included taking the old boat furniture to the dump-

Removed the panels where the gas filler used to be, did both sides.

Thought they were on with tiny torx screws, but ended up being rivets.

I'll use the removed left side panel to fill in the open section for the horseshoe.

Got the new mini-sundeck mounted on the hinges-

Still need to find something for the edges, Any ideas? I want to glue the carpet on top, cut the carpet at the edges, put the trim on it and be done with it.
Mounted the GPS/Fish Finder-

Getting there...

That's all for now.

I think that's a scbadiver question , I just don't want to see your screws being yanked out over time. I'll send robbie a pm to view this and see what his scheming mind brings to the table. My first thought is just a cable say attached to the front of the lid (underneath of course), so when you open it, it'll support the lid in the open position and not put stress on your hinges. A nylon strap would probably be the easiest option to screw down to the rail and the underside of that deck and should last a long time (until the screw works out of the wood). Could also use a small bolt with a washer to prevent it from pulling through. But I'm sure Robbie or somebody else has a very clear cut idea how to fix ya up.

If I'm looking at the photo correctly the sundeck is hinged at the back. Mine was done that way from the factory, with no latch. It blew open on the highway, jerked the restraining wire loose and the screws out of the hinges and the entire thing was missing when I got home. I doubled back and found it lying beside the Interstate, and fortunately no wrecked windshields or bodies there with it. I found a latch that I easily installed by drilling a 2 1/2 inch hole in the sundeck. Be sure you have some type of latch on yours BEFORE it happens.

Hey Pritch,
I had to chuckle when looking at that load of old furniture. I bet no one followed very close behind you when you drove to the dump. (I just couldn't resist)

I wish Pritch had called me BEFORE heading to the junk yard with all that furniture. That is definitly 'collectable' stuff. SANFORD & SON would be fighting over who gets which seat for themselves. Snooze you loose huh?

That's exactly what I was thinking too Pritch. I don't see why that wouldn't work very well. You could possibly add a locking latch so it could blow open if you were trailering the toon a long way. Pontoonstuff sells those too if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the links WCD. The original sundeck was hinged that same way, Woody- I knew I had to get some type of latch to hold it down, forget to mention it. Glad you got yours back, for a manufacturer to not plan for that is amazing.
I think Sanford was there watching me offload.... funny... what kind of camping (rv, tent, etc) do you do Les?
Randy, that picture was taken before I roped it all down, it actually rode very stable.

Hello Pritch! When I did my little sundeck I carpeted the bottom and put upholstery on the top. That way the Upholstery could wrap over the edge, with a little thin foam under it and then doubled over and stapled with a trim peice, I can't think of what that strip is actually called though. Anyway, I was thinking you may be able to wrap the carpet around the edge if you glued and stapled it. Just my thought. As far a a latch, there are some different cabinet catches and lowes or the HDepot or, you could just attach a small nylon strap to the bottom and put a snap on the bottom side of the top rail and pull it around and snap it to hold. Did that make to anybody, I know exactly what I mean but have retyped that 4 times and I still don't get it!

Is this a good fish finder? Might as well get serious about fishing. I think that Lowrance I've had for the last 7 years has been stuck on demo mode. Now I've got to get a good bait tank system for striper bait...

WE have a 8X10 cabin tent that hasn't been used for a long time. NO camper or RV. Just the 15 ft bass boat & now the 24 ft pontoon boat. I'm making SURE the front deck of the pontoon is left open in the playpen area so the tent WILL fit. I'm looking forward to a nice quiet night out on the lake with my wife. Catch some fish, drink a few pork chops & just relax.

I have a much smaller (500 series) version of that fish finder. I really enjoy mine and like the way the controls work and are easy for me to operate (I can't change the channel half the time on the tv). Be sure to get the Navionics maps chip if it does not come with it. Got us back to the marina at Lake Hamilton after my son took the wrong left turn at Alberqurque.

That's a good site, Rick. Lots of info, will take me a long time to master all that it offers.
Brian, it comes with a NVB bundle, the local lake where we'll be doing 99% of the fishing is Clarks Hill (Lake Thurmond) which happens to be mapped in HiDef at 1 foot contour intervals with the included maps.
A question for Les: How do you drink a pork chop?

Oh I know the answer to this one - and scbadiver is a master at it. Just take one out of the ice chest, pull back on tab and push forward, lift and tilt to lips, open lips and insert (preferably ice cold) liquid contents contained within, swallow and say 'ahhhh' darn good porkchop that was Name on side of container doesn't matter but it contains alcohol, mine says Diet Pepsi and therefore isn't considered a pork chop

The COLDER the better. I allow myself to only have ONE unless I am at home & in my easy chair & then it's HOMEMADE ICED TEA. When I am outside working on the boat, it's only ONE that I can have. And that ONE is about all it takes at my age. When I am on the water or behind the wheel, it's strickly iced tea, coffee or water. Regardless who is doing the driving.

once x 20 (at least) per day x 5 days straight in one 7 day week, so yeah, you could say I'm very observant, but more astonished at the mere fact the more porkchops you had the more harder you worked and the brain seemed to get lubed and more functional as you went . Thought I had the man stumped when that morning he asked me how I wanted the back section done (porti potty suspended over the electric anchor but still giving me access to the anchor winch), with a lid access to the fuel tank but all enclosed, but not quite like a sundeck. His face contorted as it was still before 9am (doesn't open porkchops that early), he pondered and studied and pondered some more, it wasn't until around 1pm when his painful expressions on his face was soon mellowed out with tasty porkchops (several by that time) and suddenly his face lit up - of couse Sean over at PontoonStuff saw this and decided pork chops must be good brain food, Jim quickly followed suit and before long, have the staff at PontoonStuff was more brain liberated while I remained befuddled as to what was happening (think that was the day I MASHED my middle finger). But by the end of the day, that back section was DONE. We didn't want to say beer on camera, so the code word ended up being 'would you like a pork chop' so the viewers of our video (whenever it'll ever get done editing it) wouldn't know we were referring to beer

Not a whole lot done this weekend-
Installed the new Fishing electronics and the lights, ran some cables, etc.

Measured for where the bait tank might go, still hashing on which one to buy.
Ordered 8 fishing rod holders, still trying to decide on where to place the house batteries (will probably get a pair of 6-volt golf cart batteries).
Little by little, getting there.
