This is the 2 together. Pics were taken of both these fish and then were released. I wish someone would have been with to get a pic of holding them, plus netting them would have been a heck of alot easier also.

Yea, I stayed on the pontoon from Monday until today, and fished different areas up and down the river. These 2 were the biggest that I caught, and it was alot of fun. Got the heart pumping when they hit. I also caught some smaller walleyes that weren't released, but rather reached the frying pan. There were alot of boats coming on the river for the holiday, so I decided to call it quits until later.

Hi mistyguy, and welcome! It has been 20 years since I boated and fished the Mississippi, and let me tell you the river has really changed. Some of the places I had fished before are all silted in. The main channel itself has filled in alot, and has narrowed. When I say narrowed I mean where the barges travel up and down. I'm suprised they are not rubbing the bottom. You definitely have to have a depthfinder on board now. I have been taking my chances, and going slow into some of the back waters watching the depth and watching for stumps or logs, and going very slow. I have managed to find some pretty good spots, but the whole river in our area seems alot shallower than it was 20 years ago. Another good way to find fishing spots, is by watching other boats. The bass boats are going in and out of back water channels, so one can find spots watching them. Don't be afraid to test the waters, and welcome again!

Randy
