Hi all, My wife & I just bought this 1979 Harris as our first 'Toon' we found her in upstate NY at an Adirondack lake where we vacation. On a whim I mentioned to my wife that we should try Pontooning next year and she informed me that since I will be a Grandfather before then it is a good idea! Last day of vacation we found and bought this! I am going to call her the SS Pontaneous!

Interior looks good, however I think we will update with new deck carpet furniture etc. The originals look good on the outside but the wood frames are totally rotted!

She has a 98 merc 4 stroke 25hp, I'll never go back to 2 strokes!

Anyway, If I begin the strip down and rebuild I will post progress in the 'rebuild' forum. I think we got lucky with this one!

***resized and brightened pics for better viewing***

'originals look good on the outside but the wood frames are totally rotted!'

Now that is a switch!

Say, I think I was in that bar back in the 70's -- maybe a good updating won't hurt anything.  I'm sure you will enjoy her!

Woody, Wooden Pontoon,

Thanks for the welcome. I hope you can see the pics, for some reason I cannot! I have to search for a reason.

Woody, We probably crossed paths in that bar.

WoodenPontoon, Great Vision!

Hi Dave. Normally once you post in the thread, you can then see the pics. It's a glitch in the forum software. So now that you've posted, you should be able to see them. If not, let me know. And I think we've all been to that bar at one time or another..

Hi DaveE... We had the same reason for buying our Harris boat. Our Grandchild is due any day now. So we figured our grandchild will be grown enough to enjoy the toon next summer.

The previous owners must have taken really good care of the pontoon for the furniture to look that good.  You'll probably also lose some of the weight on the boat, by switching out the wooden furniture for the new rotomolded furniture.  Good score- I like it!
