I have a Hummingbird Pirana max10, depth, fish finder on my pontoon, the other day it would not show any thing on the screen. it would beep when you pushed the menue buttons, but never had a display on the screen, i took it apart and it had some moisture inside, i left it out in the sun to dry out, put it back together the next day, still no display, only makes the beeping noise when you try the menue buttons. any suggestions, or is it shot, and time fore a new COLOR monitor??

Hi Skeeter. Hate to say it, but I'm betting it gave up the ghost. Try putting it in a ziploc bag about half full of rice and let it sit a couple days. The rice will absorb the moisture and may get it going again. But it may be too late..

Yep, moisture and printed circuits don't like each other too well, too often it'll short out something. When those things get old, the seals just give up.

Having gone through many many depth finders through the years bass fishing, when the screen is blank and the unit just beeps, it's telling you to shop for another depth finder. Just remember you get what you pay for, the cheaper unit never hold up. Try a mid range unit, major brands all have good quality. Pick one that fits your needs. Good luck!

I just bought a standard horzion. A little higher, but it come with a 2 year warrant. Even if it goes under water for days, they will still replace it or repair it it for free. 65.00 will even get you a life time warrany with the same water covarge. A little higher, but worth it.

My next one will have a GPS in it, so for once I'll be able to go the the same spot twice.  I'd also like to sink trees at Christmas time and go back to them.

Don't call TPWD and ask about sinking things in the lake. You WON'T like the answer they give you.

You still got your dead finder?  The dog chewed up the thumb screws that go on the back of mine.
