I was just wondering who will be starting their projects (big or small) this fall, winter or pre-spring. I know once I get my enclosure, I'm going to finally finish that polishing project I started last year before the rebuild Sept 08, which will also include polishing the fence rails. I may also see about having some new rub rails made (early spring I hope) since my current rub rails are very very tight with the 28oz carpet we put on in place of some ratty ole (don't even think it was 16oz).

I'm debating whether or not to upgrade this 'offseason'... I want a bigger
motor, but I might just end up going for a new (well, new to me) pontoon! I
really like the Weeres Sundeck Family model with the rear facing fishing
seats... it is just next to impossible to find!!! If I keep mine, I want to put that
ladder that stows underneath the bow and slides out. It looks like its both
convenient and sturdy...

I'm still contemplating the roof extension and possibly redoing the bed in the back to create some additional storage. Everything depends on the weather and whether I can find a space to work over the winter. I'm still reviewing this site to identify all the material I need for the extension, but I'll keep reading.

Hi all,

I am an Aussie and am commencing the building of a pontoon/bbq boat.  It will not be all that similar to most I've seen on these pages.  Firstly, it will be permanently in the lake, and secondly it won't have those round fancy aluminium toons you guys have.  Most the bbq boats built here have squared toons and are built out of steel and only have small outboards.... so they don't plane.  I really do like the look of the boats I've seen on these pages.  Once I start assembling my boat I will post up some progress pics.  I am expecting some laughter from you folks as our versions are very different from yours... anyhow.

Nice meeting you all.

Emu I can't wait to see pics of your toon. A square toon would be a new one on me. Sounds more like a barge. Good to have you here from the land down under. As far as fall/winter projects I plan to add a VSR & battery switch which I have already purchased; a rear anchor system; and hopefully extend the center toon all the way out to the front! Also if I get a little extra spending money may add a flat screen 12Volt TV on the wall.

Now I can see a satellite dish on your roof (and I'd be there watching something)

I'm ALWAYS doing some project or another...

Now it's time for canvas repair...think I'll be farming this one out.

I'm SO not handy with a needle and thread...

I am planning on cleaning up the toons, replacing the fence paneling, and putting on a new captains seat.  Might recover my sundeck and sink with new vinyl as well.  Also planning on getting a trolling motor for the front.  Too hard to take the kids fishing without that.  It will probably be more of a late winter early spring projcect.  Gotta wait for the tax return money to come in.

I'm thinking about a fiberglass boat that I saw at a customers house. The floor needs a total tear out and rebuild.

It is 16ft long , trailered. Has a 65 merc that does not run. Think I can pick it up for around $400. to $500.

As for the above talk about that aussie flat bottom. Somewhere between me and the Florida beach sits a boat/toon. It looks to be about 6ft wide and 14 to 16 ft long. open inside with a flat wide all the way across bottom. Old and for sale.

I still have many projects on the boat to work on.  Should be enough to keep me busy until the Spring!

replacing my 18 gallon fuel tank with a 31 gallon version

Installing all of the gauges and there respective sending units:

    electronic compass, depth sounder, speedometer

A complete wet sanding of all epoxied surfaces and then applying several coats of Spar Varnish.  (That's a special 'wood protection' product that works similar to SharkHide!  LOL)

Install Water Tanks for sink

Build an enclosure for the porti-potty  (The ladies will appreciate this one)

.....

.....

Oh yeah!  Then there's my Honey Do list (which has grown considerably over the past few years)

You just reminded me of another project I'll be working on, my jon boat. Already got the new seats for it (really nice seats from www.boatingseats.com), got the electric harness, switch panel. led lights and such. Soon as the current rain gives me some peace, I can start on it making the aluminum fixtures I'll need to do the mounting of some of the items.

Hopefully going to be adding a 3rd pontoon this winter.  Also will be finishing up my new sun-deck/ fishing platform that I built for the back.  Oh yeah, I also have to re-paint the bottom of the old jon boat.

Wife and I were talking about when we might make our first 2010 spring run to Northern AL for fishing. Had some medical issues to work out which is in progress. Turns out my knee problem may finally have straighten itself out (or I learned how to minimize the problems) as doc said no surgery is needed now. Got the hand takend care of last Friday (turned out to be a cyst between the hand and wrist was causing the pain and weakness). Chest pains came back so getting a heart cath done November 13th to fix that (#10 if he does any repair). So I'm feeling pretty darn good. Got a tree to cut down, couple stumps to grind, put in new vehicle gate (since grape vines took over the other gate), put in a culvert, lay down a base, get an enclosure and erect it, shine the toons, finish installing stereo & speakers, install another gas tank and gauge and all that before April 2010 (yep, feeling good about 2010) , cause April 2010, we got a cajun party to attend . It'll be the first time in 2 years I haven't been hurting somewhere on my body.    Guess I should throw in some house repairs in there somewhere (paint, replace some boards, install more security lighting, etc)
