Went fishing yesterday morning. Got on the River at 5:30 am, dark and pea soup fog. Navigation was at idle and we got turned around several times and lost our bearings and had to head for shore to find out where we were. Fog finally lifted and started catching some nice fish on the Channel for the first time this year. I caught a nicely marked Channel Cat, I've seen spots on Channel Cats before but not like this.

Hadn't seen one that light, almost an abino cat. Nice looking cats

Nice looking fish! I have never seen a spotted catfish before, and the redish or pinkish tinted fins, ya think that has something to do with the water?

I caught it in the Illinois river in the same spot I caught the others.  I took it home and released it in a friends pond.  It was to nice of a fish to leave in the river to be killed or caught.

Has the spots and head meat of an Opelousas cat but that pink tail sorta has a channel cat look. We have killed several op's this summer spearfishing but most of them were darker like the head half of yours. Most of them had similar spotting.

No I don't think it's a Flathead.  I'm thinking it might be a sort of Albino Channel Cat.

Not sure. I shot several with spots like that this summer but were darker. I just assumed they were flatheads. We just called them spotted cats. Either way they tasted pretyy good.
