Question for you, Has any one gone the route of using a battery buddy or battery brain or something like it instead of 2 battery set up. The reason I ask is I am worried about the weight of extra battery and stuff. And if I am to heavy in the rear how can that be corrected....

Have never heard of those two items, but I suppose its very similar to most of us use already. Some of us use the setup a sister site of PontoonStuff has at www.ezacdc.com called a battery management system. But most of us like the 2 battery system so you can separate your starting battery away from most of your electrical needs, but still be able to charge the accessory battery while you're moving and it doesn't drain your starting battery. Some of us have up to 4 batteries, I have 3 but I only have 2 under the back seat (starting and accessory battery), the 3rd battery is under the console which only powers the trolling motor and has a separate on board charger. Two batteries shouldn't make you that much heavier in the rear unless you're like one person on the forum who decided to use golf cart batteries (really big and heavy).

Extra battery to power boat, run the trolling motor, power accessories...or an extra in-law...you know, the choice is not that hard to make

Since you don't have a trolling motor (at least I don't think you do), I would just carry a jump start box just in case the main battery goes dead. Can be stored most anywhere on the boat. I've had one for a couple years that I carry on the boat during the summer and the only time I used it (knock on wood) was to jump start my Daughters car one cold winter morning at home. Plus it has a built in air compressor and 12 volt receptacle..

Mark don't have to worry about extra in law we asked and she said she don't like boats (guess I am safe). Rick yes no trolling motor, was looking just for radio all day, or lights on at night, things like that....

I just ordered a Marine Battery Brain for my boat so it will be next summer before I can give a personal recomendation but I have a neighbor who loves his. I don't want a second battery so I think it's a great idea.

**Added the general link to the website. For some reason it won't let you direct link to the specific product. Use 'Battery Brain' in that sites search box**
