All, I am in the process of rebuilding a 1987 bass buggy and bought the combo docking lights, & navigational lights. My question is, where should I mount them? I can either put them on the front platforms right on top of the pontoons, or build boxes and mount them on top of that which would put them up high between the 2 top rails.

front platform

I would say on top of the toons if your not going to extend the deck. I am not familiar with the combo lights but that would be my first inclination. I would also mount them on the fence end to prevent damage if it didn't interfere with illumination.

Why not in the same place as the original ones?  The top of those toons is a very exposed spot.  It'll be easy to knock 'em off.

This is the light that I am using. I don't know how I could make it fit on the rail.

Wildcat, Thanks for the update.

IMO you couldn't put them on the rail.  How about putting them in the same place as the current ones?

I think those pods are a lot bigger than the room there is for them where the present lights are. I don't think he has a choice but out there on the top of the toon protusions.

I'd build small box's on the top of the logs and mount them tight against the rail. They will be high enough then and somewhat protected. And it will still leave the forward portion of the log to use if needed.

Here is what I started with when I finally got it home.

Hey that's what you're suppose to do, show your progress, its the way we like it . Now lets take care of details, what are the details of your boat and motor. All we know at this point its a 1987 Bass Buggy but how long is it and until this morning we didn't know diddly about your motor but a pic shows it to be a Mariner (what year and HP?).  Details details
