Put this on your calendar - Sept 11-12 September 2009 at Island Cove Marina www.islandcove.com (actually in Hixon, TN)  If you're looking for additional fun for the family - I HIGHLY recommend the http://www.tnaqua.org/ Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. It's been a few years since the wife and I went (would have been more fun with kids, nieces or nephews).  Check them out on the web site link I posted.  Let me know who's interested so I can get an idea of a head count. If you call them mention that you're a member of PontoonStuff.com and give your forum user ID.

If you're interested in scheduling meetings in your vicinity, then by all means find a location and get as much info you can for others to make an informed decision and start a post like I did for your area.

I am really really really really going to try to make this.  That is right around my husband's birthday and maybe I can convince him this is his gift!!!

I would love to come... the only problem is according to google maps it is a 1,126 mile drive or 17 hours and 33 minutes. I will have to try to get to another one that might be a little bit closer.

Darren, why don't you set up a meeting for your neck of the woods? (hint hint) , I know the one the guys were talking about Toledo Bend is straight south of you and its a piece of drive for you too but maybe you could set up one that's within driving distance for the guys in your area of the country. I'd love to be able to come one year and do some ice fishing (even though it wouldn't be on a pontoon boat LOL)

WOW.......1800miles from my neck of the woods round trip  If I tow the toon...That's a good 2 Days for me, If I try to fly it will take the best of 3+ hrs with fuel stops and good weather to Marion County Airport in Jasper just across the river from Guild.

Toledo Bend is that in Louisiana? It is further than the Tennessee Drive. I thought about checking something out around here but I only remember one or two people that were from any where near me so I figured no one would want to come up this far north. If there is enough interest I would be happy to look into it.

About the ice fishing I should have my ice house out on the lake within the next two weeks, come up anytime and I would be happy to take you out. No guarantees on fish though, but I am certain you would have a good time.

If anyone is interested, be sure to let me know your preferences for lodging. Look at the marina's link and let me know if you're interested. Don't forget they have the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga http://www.tnaqua.org/VisitorInfo/VisitorInfo.asp which I highly recommend visiting (they've added more attractions since wife and I went a few years ago).

Very warm usually, could be anywhere from high 90's to high 70's, you just about can't tell from year to year what it'll be.

Only thing is.....this puts some pressure on my to get the boat 'up to snuff'.  You guys have really put some work and thought into yours.

I honestly have never heard of this lake.  Could be that my ex in-laws live near there and I have tried to forget that that corner of Tennessee exists!!!!!!

You've got 10 months if you got a garage big enough to put it in to work on it during the winter months. I've still don't have mine finished either. Weather just doesn't want to cooperate when I'm off, along with the elbow/wrist problem which will delay me some more (surgery on both of them the 19th of Dec). But I won't have a whole lot to do, just some wiring, finishing the gas tank, courtesy lights, fish finder mounts, things like that, along with a few more graphics and striping. Oh and plus mounting that 90hp I'll get from Briankinley2004 on the 23rd (Christmas time oh yeah).

Hey guys, for those of you considering going, I will most likely have a big announcement to make during the April time frame that may cause even more of you guys to consider coming to this event . Remember in September down here, weather is still quite warm (low 80's but high humidity) normally although it could be cool during the evening hours (low 60's)

Hey pontoon people, cuzzx here.

Charles, that is my May stomping grounds for May bream fishing.

The area is just down right beautiul, with small mountians on both sides of the river in places.

Have a few pictures that if I can find I'll post.

Told my wife about this and she said that she will check to see if she can get off at that time.

Also they are small motels in the very close area.

We always stay in Jasper at the Acuff Motel. They are very good to boaters. About 5 miles away with a very good eating joint in the yard.

Items for entertainment and food ideas. Depending on how many folks end up being at the get together, I'm working on a lunch Riverboat cruise package discount (more on that around Feb/March) for Friday mid day (its an 1.5 hr cruise on the river in Chattanooga) and then tie that into the Tennessee Aquarium visit (another 1-2 hr excursion). On Saturday for lunch, we will either have a hog roast (whole hog), or we'll come up with a 3 meat item selection (buffet) and have it at the Marina's restaurant or do a grill out deal. Still working on fine details but will keep you updated. Got confirmation from Rick (rickdb1) that he and his better half will be there, I know Robbie (scbadiver) will be there , working with dahogman and darrklim2 to arrange to have them there as well. rickdb1 is planning on hauling his Bentley down here. So if anyone's coming through say Thursday night near Nashville, you can join us for dinner Thursday night in Smyrna, TN. You can't just tell who might be showing up for dinner. If you think you might join us, I'll sure try and arrange a discount for dinner for the group. Smyrna, TN is 20 minutes from Nashville, 2hrs max from Chattanooga. If you're hauling a toon and don't feel comfortable leaving it at the hotel, let me know and you can park it at my house = got room for 2 in the front yard (or 3), and I can hold 10 in the back yard (with mine), just don't spin your wheels and make any divits

cross the Nickajack and dream of floating on the pontoon! I'll be there!!!

I rec'd the e-mail on this subject today. Unfortunately this economy has hit home here for us as well. Though we are trying to get something started for ourselves started its to early to project weather it will be successful or not. Though I'd love the opportunity to meet everyone in person can't be sure it's in the cards at this time. But anyway if we can make it we'll be staying on our boat. It's set up for camping and a person can be quite comfortable on it. Would rather spend money on gas than a room anyway. The only thing we would really need access to and it's probably there somewhere, is a place to get a shower and freshen up.

Going to try and get discounts for the Friday (Sept 11th) Riverboat cruise/luncheon and TN Aquarium tour (for those that want to see that) which is excellent for anyone, especially families. If anyone is interested in other tours or sites, let me know. Also will be checking out the restaurants in Chattanooga (and the little diners nearby as well). I'll also be busy recruiting new members in that area to join the forums as well as letting them know about the get-together at www.islandcove.com. I'm also going to try and get Kevin with www.ezacdc.com to come down and bring his products with him so you guys can actually see/touch the stuff that's available and he can discuss anything you guys and gals might ask about. Does anybody have anything else they want me to cover during my trip next week?

If anyone is coming, how would you like to have a traditional crawfish bowl, with onions, potatoes, corn (seasoned we can do mild or really cajun to suit anyone palet) and/or jambalaya. If you've never tried it, you'll be in for a treat. kartracer28 (from Houma, LA) is fixing up the jambalaya and we'll together do the crawfish boil (bring newspapers ) it won't be for reading, it'll be to serve up the boiled crawfish, and fixins.

I wouldn't mind a little cruise

by boat, I wouldn't have a clue, By vehicle its 1.5hrs I think max (or 1hr), by river depending on the locks, maybe 4hrs or so at 3500rpm to max fuel savings (or 3000rpm whatever is best cruising without strain), having a fuel meter on rpm usage would be good, take a spare 6 gal tank, so if you had to switch, you'd have enough to get to the next marina

Ok, things are firming up nicely - We've got some distinguished guests coming to the Chattanooga get-together - guess who? Jim and Andrea Myers (owners of PontoonStuff.com for those that don't know them yet), their parents (Jim's dad and mom does the trailer business, Andrea's mom works as the accountant for PontoonStuff), Sean the warehouse manager for PontoonStuff is hauling his double decker pontoon down here (great guy), and the Owner of Toon-Brite and his wife are coming. Still haven't got a confirmation yet from Kevin Hannula, the electrical guru of www.ezacdc.com (although I've invited him). I'm working on some other guests as we go along too.   Dinner plans have changed, instead of a Friday night cookout, it'll be Saturday night for the Crawfish Boil (supplied by me), Jambilaya by kartracer28 (Ronney Picou from Houma, LA) and Jim and Andrea (Jim's cooking) Grilled Steaks and Chicken. I'm still working on the Chattanooga TN Aquarium tour (for those that would like to see it), the Riverboat Cruise and Lunch (I'll get prices as soon as I can, need to make another trip to Chattanooga)

So if you want to stay here, then reserve your room by the end of May and the normal price of $89 will drop to $65 a night, after that, it'll be $75 (still a discount). Working out details of renting an island they own (see details at www.islandcove.com) There are also a number of hotels/motels within 12 miles of this facility off I-75 and Hwy 153, just slightly north of Chattanooga. They'll also let us have an uncovered slip for free for your boat while we are there (can't tell you if it has electric or not). Here's a map of the area.

Head count time, who's coming? I'll be booking my room this weekend, you have until the end of May to get the reduced price of $65 a night, after that its $75 a night until the end of June, after that if you can get a room it'll be $89 if you stay where we're staying. They are 6 other hotels in the immediate area if you want to spend more.

People who I know are coming. Me and the wife, Jim and Andrea, Sean (warehouse) and friend, Jim's mom and dad, Andrea's mom and dad, kartracer28 and his wife, Wise vendor rep and his wife and who else?

Ok, wife and I took a trip to Island Cove and took pictures and personally checked out the motel rooms. Check the upper ones (2 queen beds) and was pleasantly surprised as to the space. Took several pics of the island and and such in between rain storms moving through. Also took some shots of the view in front of the marina in the main channel.

View of main channel in front of the marina from which you can see from the view of the room balconey.

View of the 12 rooms driving into marina, first 6 are accessed from stairs in front, top 6 are accessed from level (no steps) upper rear. If anyone is handicapped, choose the upper level rooms #7-12, lower are 1-6.

Rear upper level parking and access to rooms 7-12

view of upper rear parking lot area

Looked at this charcoal grill - NASTY but this area could be used for the cookout, there's also a pavilion on the lower front level with a good size deck.

2 queen size beds. Lower level has King size bed (1). Couldn't get into Cabin A or B as they were closing in 30 minutes by the time we arrived (they are on eastern time, I'm on central).

Here's a pic they have from the web site of one of the upper rooms.

Bathroom (no handicapped toilets here)

chairs in the room

dining area in the room

mini fridge, coffee pot and sink (there's a sink in the bathroom too), all rooms have 27in TV - don't know about wireless internet, but I'm betting its a no.

balcony patio. These rooms I was given a rate of $65 a night, but you must reserve before the end of May 2009 to get that rate and you must say you're with the PontoonStuff.com group. If any trouble with getting that rate - EMAIL ME and I'll take care of it. After the end of May the rete will be $75 a night which still isn't bad compared to their standare $89 a night rate.

View of Cabin B ($300+ a night) four bedrooms and two and a half baths, a completely furnished kitchen, a separate dining room, pool table and wet bar, a washer and dryer, a gas grill, cable television, telephone, and bed linens.

View of cabin A (also $300+ a night) five bedrooms and three baths, a completely furnished kitchen, a gas grill, cable television, telephone, and bed linens.

View of the island from a distance

Walkway to the island at Island Cove where we're thinking of having the cookout

View of the dock at the island

Island has a swing set for the kids

picnic area on the island

the stage under the covered pavilion on the island

Think this will be enough - view of the restaurant from the island

Folks, just an update. Since the email went out and absolutely no confirmations from anyone. I'm asking one last time if anyone is coming to the Chattanooga area Sept 11-13th, 2009. Our discount for the rooms expire the end of May and so far I only have kartracer28 who besides goldome14, the PontoonStuff forum staff along with Jim and Andrea with their parents coming. So unless I hear a few more people speaking up saying there are coming and letting us know by June 1st, I'll have no other recourse than to cancel this get-together. I'll see some of you folks in August at the Hot Springs, Arkansas get together. (and IT WILL BE HOT HOT)
