Well I just purchased my new to me pontoon after years of owning bass boats,. I wanted to get my kids more involved in fishing and boating. I put my toon in just to take to my boat slip rental and I couldn't resist dragging a worm across some humps on the way.  I had my little girls(ages 5 and 8) along with my nephew. I pulled up rigged up and on the first pass 3 cast BAM , Wasn't a big one but it was first fish on new boat.

On second pass we(myself and nephew) doubled up. Yep Mine was bigger

I caught 3 more then I tried to teach my oldest girl how to fish with a worm. Time spent was about hour and a half. Had to go turn in my boat information to the slip rental.. Waiting for this weekend to get back out there.

Hey Davidd,

We fish a little different down here in the south. The lakes down here are pretty much limited to pan fish, bass, catfish and crappie with occasional hybrid strippers. Since I live right at the Guntersville Dam ( Tennessee River System)  I do troll but we use the current that the dam produces and bottom bounce that way for the strippers (hybrid and rock fish(saltwater stripes). When we get out of the strike zone we motor back up to the current and drift back down.

That's why we bought our toon...fishing! We love to go after catfish, mostly small-medium and we are pretty much catch and release.  The James River is home to some real monsters, though.  50 pounders hardly raise an eyebrow any more.  More than 20 fish over 85 pounds were issued citations, and many were not reported.  State record is 102 pounds...it could swallow a 10 pound trophy bass, and probably has!

Here what I mean - an 'average' size catfish from around here ( I think its all the stuff that was dumped in the river that makes them grow so big). That's a 2/0 hook in its mouth, and I could fit both my hands in just the lower jaw with room letft over!

In all fairness, this size is our usual catch...

Big picture to make sure everyone can see this monster! And the catfish, too!
