I know I have read here about venting pontoons, well I was snooping around under my pontoon today and look what I found....

Thats a first to me. The dirt daubers would fill them up down here.

There are no vents in mine, just a drain plug at the ends. If mine were like that, dirt daubers would find them to be nice homes too.

A small piece of nylon window screen and a wire tie will stop those Mud Daubers.

I searched for it and on wiki it says sometimes they are called Mud wasps. That would be close to what I call them.

They go up in any hole they can find and fill it full of mud which hardens like soft brick. They stop my fish cooker up on a regular basis because I forget to tape up the hole where it goes on the bottle. Also they build nests all over my carport, etc. I am not aware of anyway to get rid of them and have been putting up with them all my life. They once stopped the sewer vent up on my RV and I couldnt figure out for the life of me why the toilet smelled so bad. They are just another one of the state insects of Louisiana including mosquitoes and fire ants.
