QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk a Question
I have a 2016 Bennington 24 SSRX Tri-Toon with lifting Stakes, which type of guides do you recommend ? The web site only shows Standard Pontoon Guides. Where do I find the completely Vertical ones you mentioned in the questions and answer section for Tri-Toons.
We have tested the Standard Pontoon Trailer Guide Ons and it appears that the Standard ones work just as well with the Tri-Toons.
I have a Tritoon. The picture I have only shows 1 guide on the rear cross bar. I have all 4 guides - identical. So I mount them to the 2 rear most cross bars - correct?
Yes. That is correct. You will want to spread them out evenly. This will allow for the best help while using th Pontoon Trailer Guide Ons.
Looking at the picture with the two trailer guides mounted one behind the other, I'm confused. Why do you have the more up write one behind the slanted one? Don't see the purpose. Does it go on the front of the trailer?
The picutre you are referring to is showing the diffrence between the two type of load guides we offer. The slanted one is for a regular pontoon boats with 2 toons. The one that is completely vertical is the load guide for tri-toons. I'm sorry for the confussion but we are still in the process of updating this page.
My trailer is 1.5" x 3" channel. do you think they might work if I put a spacer to bring the width up to 2"?
Yes, it would work but could also weaken the connection between your boat trailer and the trailer guide on. I would keep this in mind as you add a spacer. In winding and rough conditions you will want the load guide to be strong as possible.
How close to the pontoons do you install the guides? Do you leave a little room, or do you place these up against the pontoons?
Trailer pontoon guide ons should be mounted 2" to 4" form your pontoon tube.
How good are these in deeper water ramps? What if the back one is under water?
These ponton guides will work just fine in deeper water. Even if the pontoon guides are almost fully sumerged they should still help quide your boat on to your pontoon trailer.
What is the actual size of the U-bolts? I assume they are square bend with 2" between the bolts, are they 5/16" or 3/8" diameter bolts? I am going to need to purchase longer ones to fit my trailer
The bolts on the Pontoon Trailer Guide Ons are going to be 3/8" in diameter.
can these guides be used with a 3 pontoon boat
No these Pontoon Trailer Guide Ons can not be used with Tri Toons.
Should I install carpet on the guides? Or are they designed to be used without carpet?
No, these Pontoon Trailer Guide Ons do not need carpet installed on them. They are designed to work without them.
